How it works

Many universities, especially in Saudi Arabia, do not admit students on a single mark. They combine several scores into one weighted percentage (النسبة الموزونة): typically the high-school average, the General Aptitude Test (Qudurat) and the Achievement Test (Tahsili). Each score is multiplied by its weight, and the results are added.

weighted % = (score₁ × weight₁ + score₂ × weight₂ + score₃ × weight₃) ÷ (weight₁ + weight₂ + weight₃)

When the weights add up to 100%, this is simply the sum of each score × its weight ÷ 100. If your weights add up to something else, the calculator divides by their total so the answer stays on a 0–100 scale, and tells you it did so.

Worked example. High school 92%, Qudurat 78 and Tahsili 81, with weights of 30%, 30% and 40%: 92 × 0.30 = 27.6; 78 × 0.30 = 23.4; 81 × 0.40 = 32.4. Weighted percentage = 27.6 + 23.4 + 32.4 = 83.4%.

Which weights should I use?

Weights are set by each university and often by each college or track, and they can change from year to year. Common splits include 30/30/40 and 40/30/30 for science tracks, while some humanities programs use only the high-school score and Qudurat (enter 0 for Tahsili). Always copy the exact weights from the university’s admission guide for the year you are applying — the calculator does not guess them.

Tips

  • Enter each score out of 100. Qudurat and Tahsili results are already reported out of 100.
  • Compare programs by trying each college’s weights: the same scores can give different weighted percentages.
  • The minimum weighted percentage needed for a program changes every year with the number and level of applicants.

Sources & assumptions

Scores out of 100; weights entered by the user from the official admission guide. Weights not summing to 100 are normalised.

Frequently asked questions

What is the weighted percentage?

A single admission score made by combining your high-school average, Qudurat and Tahsili results, each multiplied by its weight.

How do I calculate the weighted percentage?

Multiply each score by its weight, add the results, and divide by the total of the weights (100 when they are percentages).

What weights does my university use?

Each university and college sets its own weights each year. Find them in the official admission guide and type them in.

What if a program does not use Tahsili?

Set the Tahsili weight to 0. The result then uses only the other two scores.

Can I use this for other weighted averages?

Yes. Any three marks with weights work the same way, for example coursework, midterm and final exam.

Why does the result say the weights were normalised?

Your weights do not add up to 100, so the calculator divided by their total to keep the result on a 0–100 scale.
